Goodwill Work in Japan Necessitates Missionary Insurance

AS the recovery effort continues in Japan, citizens from around the world are stepping forward to provide their assistance. While this is most certainly a noble investment of one’s time, it is not without danger. Any time you volunteer in a country that has been harmed by a natural disaster, there are certain risks that you assume. To make sure you can access affordable healthcare in the event something does happen, you will need missionary insurance.

It is difficult not to be moved by the harrowing footage and photos coming out of Japan. Seeing the staggering numbers of missing citizens and seeing the damage done to homes and buildings has compelled many people to help in the best way they know how; by actually visiting the country and lending a hand. This is an especially brave act considering the fear of radiation currently engulfing the area, as well as the threat of additional possible injury and illness to volunteer workers.

Any time you do work in a country that has been hit by a natural disaster, you are taking a great risk. A building that you are working in could have structural damage that you cannot see. What if it collapses? A roadway you drive on could also be damaged. What if it causes an accident? Local drinking water and/or air might be polluted. What if they make you ill?

Missionary insurance offers valuable protection in the face of these dangers. It allows you access to affordable, high quality healthcare in locations around the world. Read more…

How do you get to be labeled a ‘good student’? Good grades, a high GPA or being on the honor roll are criteria for showing you deserve affordable auto insurance. As a ‘good student’ you are a desirable client for an auto insurer because you are expected to be a good risk. This means that the insurer is willing to offer a reduction in the cost of your insurance premium.

But it is not just the GPA that can used to establish that this is a ‘good student.’ Some insurers will be impressed and respond favorably if the student in question has enrolled in a fulltime university or community college program. It is certainly worth making the case to the insurer.

Above all, take the matter into your own hands rather than just accepting the high premium as if it was set in stone. Look for ways to get some downward movement on that premium. Too often, we become powerless because of the difficulty of making a case to insurers, but should you succeed in getting more affordable car insurance, you will not begrudge the time it took.

Water Safety Tips for Travelers

Everyone needs water, whether we stay at home or vacation in the Sahara. We may take the healthfulness of our water at home for granted. When we travel we’re likely to experience some less than sanitary supplies.

Make sure you don’t fall ill after drinking and have to claim on your travel medical insurance – untreated water is a haven for viruses, bacteria and parasites. Buy bottled water, boil water, distil water or purify water before it passes your lips.

If you’re travelling for a short time in tourist cities and resorts, bottled water may be most convenient. But the plastic bottles are a serious environmental hazard and bottled water will be expensive if you’re away for a long time. Using a personal water purifier or iodine tablets cuts the environmental and cash cost.

Water safety is a serious concern in the Indian subcontinent, Africa, Mexico and Central America, Asia and South America. Hikers, aid workers, missionaries and other off-the-beaten track adventurers need to be particularly careful here, even in the developed towns and cities.
